Apart from meeting Mayor Dave Cull, staying at The Chapel and discovering Mazagran and its excellent coffee and customers, what else did I do in Dunedin?

Because I had written about the Peninsula six months earlier, I largely kept away this time, although I did go down the other side of the harbour to Aramoana, spending some time mooching around Port Chalmers.

This is a fantastic drive of two halves: from Dunedin to Port Chalmers – past Forsyth Barr Stadium – it’s a drive through suburbia, but from Port Chalmers to Aramoana, you have paddocks on one side, the harbour on the other and a serpentine of twisting tarseal under your wheels.
